Grid reference game - Summer edition
Help students practise using 4 figure grid references with this Battleships-inspired grid reference game. This well-known game has been given a summery twist with students plotting popular summer foods, from burgers to icecreams, on their grids. Students use their 4 figure grid referencing skills to play against each other and find all the items to win!
Grid references are used to locate places on a map.
To find a four figure grid reference we need to follow these steps.
1. Firstly use the numbers along the
bottom of the grid “along the
corridor”. These are called eastings.
2. Use the numbers up the side of the
grid “up the stairs”. These are called
northings.
For the square you want to give the
grid reference of, go to the bottom
left-hand corner of that square. Then
find the relevant numbers along the
bottom and the side of the grid.
